What happened to the download file in my S6?

I had an update a month or so ago and have lost the download file. Actually, have lost the file app altogether. My emails download the attachments, but don't know where they go. I have stumbled across them once or twice, but can not open them.

Welcome to Android Central! System updates get downloaded to a system directory (probably the system cache partition). If you didn't install it, it might have been cleared out since then.

When you say you lost the file app, do you mean My Files no longer appears in your App Drawer? Make sure you also look in the Samsung folder, if present, and make sure you have the App Drawer set to show all apps (including hidden apps).

It is in the map myfiles now.

Your downloadfile is moved into 'my files'. You must have an icon 'my files'

In there are all your files...your pictures your downloads your documents your audiofiles etc.

The icon 'download file' has gone with the update.

I'm afraid I still don't quite understand. Did you post the original question, or are you offering some help to the OP? It sounds like the OP is saying that the My Files app is missing altogether.

O I thought op couldn't find the things he downloaded and couldn't find the downloadfiles icon after an update. Maybe I misunderstand but that's what I read.

First there was a seperate downloaded files icon apart from the myfiles icon and after an update it all went to the my files map. I thought that was the problem.
