So I've had the p40 Pro for a little while and although I'm not a massive YouTube user, today I was trying to watch a video and couldn't find the app. I thought it'd transferred with my other apps, but apparently not.
I've not been able to find the actual ap, anyone know what's going on?

I haven't used the actual YouTube app for a while on any phone, since I use vanced (which I definitely recommend). I don't know how you got the app in the first place, but Huawei has created a "Quick App" for youtube, which is basically a web app, you could hardly tell the difference, you should check it out through Petal Search or quick apps on App Gallery.

If you are in infrequent user like you say i'd just use to quick app and pin it to your home screen. It will keep you logged in and is an easier way of using the mobile website really. There are 3rd party apps on the AppGallery but i've not used them personally as I use vanced. but you will need to search that one out if you want more info.

I have used quick apps which is good. It almost looks like the legitimate app and even saves your preferences when you sign in with your Gmail account.

[Mod redacted] It's identical and has the same features. It's brilliant.

Both are good options though.

My [Mod redacted] quit working two days ago. Now I have an icon on my phone that links to the YouTube website.

Sorry folks, but no discussions about Vanced, since it's used to bypass paywalls. (That might be why it doesn't work any more -- something might have changed to prevent its use, since it violates terms of service.)

I'm not very knowledgeable but I never paid for YouTube. Is using an icon to link to the YouTube page on the net legitimate?

Basic YouTube has always been a free service. But YouTube premium is a paid service (to get rid of ads, along with other perks). Vanced tries to get around that paywall, which is why it's taboo on this forum.

Thanks.
