I owned a HOX. When I first switched from webOS Palm Pre 2, I checked review from engadget and got an HOX from newegg. A year later, I sold HOX for a Note 3.

In the brief time I owned HOX, I am happy with its performance, if only the battery life was lacking somewhat. HTC has had great design since HOX, and got even better with M7/8/9. But why is its market kept declining? What has HTC done wrong?

Marketing?
Design mistakes?
Other things?

Form over function:
1. that black HTC bezel is taking away sooo much screen
2. non removable battery
3. on screen instead of physical/capacitive buttons which are taking away even more screen

1. It has roughly the same size screen as the S5 & S6 (5.1" vs 5"). It doesn't take away any screen. It adds to the phone's height, granted but it doesn't "take away" from any screen.
2. Which seems to hurt the iPhone sales so much. Or the Moto X.
3. Again, like the Moto X. Or the LG G3. Or the OnePlus One. Or the Nexus phones.

HTC is in a rebound phase. They were on a roll till Apple started bulling them with law suits. HTC has always designed well, even the sense ui always has an elegance and clean presence compare to other OEM skin. In my opinion the HTC logo needs a change, something that appeals more widely. Advertising needs more work as well. HTC won't do well like Apple, Samsung and maybe LG since they provide other products to the consumer world. So I don't think they did anything wrong, they just can't catch up..

they don't have the marketing budget a Samsung or Apple has.You make it sound like their market share is decreasing though I'd argue it's the opposite
