I'm sure we ask know Sprint reps never lie but I just got off the phone with a rep. When asked about ics for evo 3d his reply was "I heard late August" my reply "WHAT! you guys said June or July" his reply was that they have a tool called CRT our something that started with a C. And last he checked for our phone it said it was expected in late August. He them checked again and according to him it still said late August. Just thought I'd share what I was told with everyone

thanks! not to be snarky but it would really be nice to keep all these posts in one discussion instead of making a new post for every ics development.

If there was a thread about confirming a August release I would have. I too notice the constant ics threads, but I, unlike you am new to this phone so I've actually read them all and believe it or not there are differences. Not to be snarky buddy but I know with a new thread is warranted. tell you what, show me a thread where a LATE AUGUST release date is the #1 topic. Because I don't know about you but this comes as news to me. problem is (and I'm sure its evident in my tone) it doesn't matter to me when ICS comes. Sure I want it but I can't force sprint to release it so why go crazy worrying about it when they will. Like I said, I'm new to this phone but many aren't and they've been waiting longer than I, like the last sentence I'm my original post said "I just thought everyone should know"

They could add any version if they wanted too. Money is the reason why they don't! Why add ics to the 3d if they could force u to spend more money and upgrade.

Are there that many people who would buy a new phone just for ICS? When you consider factors like upgrade timelines and the ability of true nerds to root their phones, I don't think there are that many people who would buy a new one just for ICS.

I just think there aren't many incentives to rush the upgrade for users that already have the phone esp. when it is no longer being sold.

For me, an OLED screen, quad-core processor, better camera. These are reasons to upgrade.

I have to agree. The phone has also only been out just over a year. Not that many people can upgrade anyway. I would absolutely never upgrade just for the newest Android update.

If that is the reason, they are just pissing off their customers. I'd like to believe that they just have more lucrative/important things to deal with. Def makes me want to get a Nexus so I dont have to deal with this next time.

Just now, one rep lied to me and said it was available. Which we know is not. And she had no clue what ICS was.

Called back and was told that it's HTC fault. When I asked why paying customers were behind Virgin Mobile and overseas customers, was told that they are not told about updates.

I'm probably going SG3 anyway, but that's what I was told.

UPDATE: Called HTC and they confirmed that ICS is still scheduled for June-July time frame. The rep told me that the updates are a joined HTC/Sprint effort. When I asked point blank if Sprint could refuse to push the update, he didn't think it was a possibility.

Believe what you will. I truly think Sprint is holding it to force people to upgrade because both times I spoke to Sprint, they told me could use my upgrade to get a new phone.

I called myself to talk very politely to retentions. They basically put it on HTC "the manufacturer". When I told them the update was available on other networks like Virgin and in other countries their response was "well they arent sprint", and I was like "I know, they actually get their updates out to their customers unlike sprint."

I didn't call to like a madman pulling out his hair. Just wanted to say what their spin was and if they had any news. He said if I "had to have" the update, he mentioned something about buying out the rest of the contract for $125 and being able to be eligible for an upgrade. So I guess if you want to spend an extra $125 on top of what a new phone would cost... you have that option to get the SG3. I told him I was insulted by the offer of having to spend 325 and commit two more years for the purpose of getting a software update that you promised in early 2012.

I made sure he relayed the information that their customers were very unhappy with the slow response time. I advise you guys to do the same. Maybe if enough people become vocal about wanting updates faster, it will become more of a priority from a PR standpoint.

Def more likely to get a nexus for my next phone, for this reason alone.

Man I miss the days when Sprint would just blow you if you complained. It's a business, I understand.

You need to take a major chill pill.

If everyone wrote a brand new thread each time a new month was quoted on releases, this forum would be extremely bogged down. What that poster was saying is it would be smarter to keep one thread with ANY updates about timeframe. Your probably mostly incorrect information about an August release date means virtually nothing with at least two other months having been bandied about for ICS release dates, from Sprint reps and other "reputable" sources.

But I'm sure all of your findings are so important new threads need be created. Carry on, oh wise one.

From the dictionary:
Forum- . A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
2. An Internet message board.

Look it up. Are you a moderator? Unlikely I'm thinking.

Would this thread have been closed if it was deemed repetitive by an ACTUAL MODERATOR? I'm sure of it

Are you my parent or wife? No? am I an adult? Yes, 29 years old and counting. Do not tell me to calm down? First, I'm not excited. second, I don't know you @ all.

Thanks for you're input. For the final time, read slowly: ALL I DID WAS SHARE MY EXPERIENCE to those who care. With the international update this week consumers like myself have been wondering like never before when this update will be pushed. It does not matter much to me but I figured some would like to know even if they don't care. Anything else your discussing is irrelevant and useless to me. Again I don't know or particularly like you now that you've managed to take the thread off topic again. I wish it would get closed now because you have taken me sharing my experience and made it about something else which you have ABSOLUTELY NO QUALIFICATION to even TRY to inform me on. Where do you get the nerve? I do not know, I do not care. Have a great day and try that sarcasm on someone less secure in their existence next time. Good day (seriously have a good day. That's how insignificant this is to me) now smile:-))

If a moderator is reading this, you should just close the thread. this was not my intention when I started it. I only started it because the rep mentioned that they have a tool they use to check timeframes

The 3D forum gets ~3 threads a day -- I think it will survive another one. And in case you hadn't noticed, ridiculing someone in a forum because they don't meet your forum etiquette expectations isn't a very effective way to get what you want. Try contacting one of us instead.

Back to the subject...

It's just interesting that Sprint blames HTC. HTC saids nothing has changed from the June-July dates announced earlier. The HTC rep also reminded that it could take 45 days to get the update pushed to your phone also. Sprint told me that I could use my upgrade to get the new EVO and that would fix the problem.

It has to be Sprints doing. Why is it that the V-Mobile (Another Sprint company) has ICS on their Evos while the main fraction doesn't? They WANT a person to waste money on a new phone. It's all the more reason as to why me and a large sum of people rooted.

That's the reason why I rooted. Big power outage in central Maryland! No sprint service? Change prl to 00002 verizon, mysteriously I have full service.
