AC Question

what is a 8 digit reset number?

I am trying to put my sims card from my old broken phone into a galaxy htc desire phone that was given to me by my father in law, but when I turn the phone on it is asking for my 8 digit reset number but I have no ideal what number that would be. I have tried a bunch of different passwords but nothing I have tried works and I do not know of any reset numbers. if you could help me so I can get all my information I had in my old broken phone put into my htc galaxy desire phone that I will now be using once I get my phone service transferred over. Thank You

Welcome to Android Central! Does it actually ask for a "reset number"? Or is it asking you for a password? Ask your father-in-law if he knows the password.

Moving your SIM card from the old phone to a new phone won't move all of the information to the new phone. The SIM card allows the phone to access the carrier's network so you can make calls and get on the web, but the only data that might be stored on it would be some contacts and possibly some text messages. All of the other data is either on your phone's internal storage or microSD card (if present).
