What is a Verizon 4G NFC SIM?

Got my shipping notification for my Note 3 today. Says it is coming with a 4G NFC SIM. What is the purpose of this SIM? I thought the phone already has NFC why does the SIM have NFC?

Its for ISIS wallet. Verizon's Google wallet, it requires a NFC Sim to function.

BTW, saw another thread that stated that the NFC SIM is the so-called "embedded SIM" that everyone was worried about.

There is no embedded sim in the Note 3 (ie: Doesn't ship with one inside like a iPhone 5c/5s or the DROID Linup) If you have a newer phone with NFC built into it it is mandated by Verizon that you received the new NFC sim card to use whenever ISIS rolls out from its current Beta state... and it's probably going to be a while. So, don't get your hopes up just yet

They are wording the embedded SIM part incorrectly. It likely means embedded NFC in the SIM. Typically poor wording.

OK, so if I am not concerned with NFC, there should be no reason not to take my sim from my current phone and pop it in the new Note 3.

Verizon has an "NFC SE SIM Card FAQ" on their web site, but I can't post the link here because it's my first post, so you'll have to Google for it.

Here's a quote from the relevant section:

What is an NFC SE SIM card?

An NFC SE (Near Field Communication Secure Element) SIM card is a special SIM card for our NFC-capable 4G LTE devices. The NFC SE SIM card adds an additional level of security that other SIM cards don't have by helping protect your personal information (e.g., credit/debit card numbers, account numbers, access codes, etc.). It's required to support apps and services, such as Softcard[SUP]TM[/SUP].

I have heard of SIM cards with built-in NFC, but I don't think that's what Verizon is talking about.
