sec.abt

As a new user of Android, coming from Blackberry it seems there are an awful lot of apps running without explanation. Most can be found by google search, however can't seem to find anything about "sec.abt" Can someone help explain what this is, what it does and if it is necessary?

Thank you.

Thanks for the answer below. It does seem odd that nobody else has mentioned this anywhere on the web.

Re: sec.abt

Welcome to the forums. I looked for it on my Nex5 and M8 (running SlimKat) and couldn't find it. This might be an M9 thing. As for what it does or if it's necessary I am not sure.

Re: sec.abt

I have a note 4 and have the same random file.
When I uninstall it it just redownloads itself.
So weird..

I don't think it's anything to worry about. I found a few references on Google, even a download link for the file. It sounds like it is something that an app may need or a certain device may need.

It allows a remote user to lock, wipe or track your phone

Which makes doing anything to it an attempt to steal the phone, so let's not discuss it. [Thread closed.]
