What is taking skype so long?

Seriously, what is taking skype so long to get video chat working? They had the perfect opportunity to dominate mobile video chat and they are dropping the ball bad. The sad thing is I have a better feeling I will get a 2.3.4 update with gtalk video for my EVO long before skype releases anything.. oh well

You'd have to ask Skype. Ever done any software development? There could be any number of reasons.

If I remember correctly, Skype bought Qik, which had video chat for select phones, then recently opened up video chat (via Qik) for other Android models. Skype is now being bought out by Microsoft, so that could either delay software updates, lock Skype to WM7 phones, or speed up the process for all phones by infusing Skype with added funds. At any rate, I doubt we will see much from Skype (update-wise) until the buyout is complete.
