What is the best music video format?

I have some music videos in .m4v format and some in .mp4 format and they both play fine on the video player. Are these the best formats to use on my GS3? Also, is the native video program the best player to use or can anyone suggest a better alternative to view music or other videos? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Skunk. I have heard good things about PowerAmp. Does it play videos or is it a music player only? I am mostly looking for a video player.

Music player... as for file types, I use mostly mp3 and mp4 mostly as my old ears can't tell the difference between them and the better ones.
