Welcome to Android Central! It depends on what you want from a smartwatch. Are you interested in Wear OS? Tizen? I'd avoid the no-name or off-brand ones direct from China, since app selection and customer support will be minimal.

Whats the best smart watch for the below

I would like a Bluetooth smart watch that works with the huawei p20 pro.

I'm not that's interested in the fitness aspects but would like to receive/send emails from the watch and possibly calls.

I would like something that allows email notifications preferably outlook.

And any other general use.

I'm Currently looking at the Samsung galaxy watch and huawei watch2.
Are there better alternatives or which would be more suitable?

Both would be great for your very simple list of must-haves. I'd include Fossil's Gen 4 (heck, even the Gen 3!) one in there (I love the Fossil Sport, but it doesn't have a speaker so can't let you take calls in it like you want). Just bear in mind that Samsung's option is NOT Android Wear, so it plays a lot better with Samsung phones and some watch features might be limited with the P20.
