What is the circle with the line through it?

The circle with the line through it icon.

The is a circle with a line through it at the top of my phone. I don't know how to get rid of it. It's been doing this for a few weeks now. I can't search for any wifi networks since this happened and I can't get on the internet. I've tried turning on airplane mode and using the wifi but the wifi connections list is cleared from anything. Help. I have a Galaxy exhibit.

That symbol usually refers to your service status, check your signal and make sure you have mobile data turned on.
