In no way am I going to bash Verizon in this post. I have been with them for over a decade and they have the best service by FAR, HANDS DOWN! However, when it comes to updates, what is the problem??! Not one 4G device on their network has gotten Gingerbread. We are seeing phones that came out 2 years ago getting this update! Is there anyone else out there that isn't mad about but rather simply amazed about how pathetic this is????

PS: I know I can root and grab custom Gbread ROMS, Sense 3.0, etc etc etc. However I'm old school and I like to keep it simple with only offcial updates from the company itself. To each, his own.

It happens all the time... it's one big waiting game. Exactly what you said though.. those phones that are getting it are now 2 years old.
If I had to take a guess though.. I'm predicting we will see it very soon.

The stuff the development community comes up with is far beyond what verizon and htc will ever give us. Even if they give us gingerbread, they aren't going to give us sense 3.0, well I've already got both. I will cut them a little slack, as lte is a new technology, so as long as the thunderbolt is still the first lte phone to get gingerbread I wouldn't be to mad.

This is what happens when new technology is rolled out. The internet was not perfect when it rolled out a couple of decades back. Verizon was first to get LTE, so getting a phone with this new tech and having delays is understandable. GB is overrated. I'm tired of these GB complaints

My take on it.
Development and testing starts on a device. Somewhere in mid development, a new OS becomes available. Development on this new product continues as it, instead of being restarted for the new OS. (particularly if the new OS doesn't have many real benefits)
But, another team starts development and testing of updates for older devices.
The new device is introduced, it has last years OS. Now development and testing on the new OS on this new device can start. The update for the new OS on the old device is now introduced. Later, the new OS is released for the newer device.

Makes sense to me.
Maybe. :-\

I want Gbread for one reason - Skype video calling (which I will probably hardly ever use hahahah)

Exactly! Our TBolts are gonna get GB in way less time than those other phones. It's true! We're lucky!

Hands down, best avatar on the net. I know Cory Streater agrees! Photo shop genius. I was going to carrier shop, then OP reminded me of VZW customer service, and I agree, they have ALWAYS taken GOOD care of me. OK VZW, drop them bombs.
