With a few problems Im having I have been told to do a hard rest and somebody else said do a soft but I do not know difference or even how to do them.

My understanding of these terms: soft reset happens when you power down the phone and then restarting. Hard reset is a factory reset. It us when you erase all of the information you have put in it and returning it (hopefully ) to the state it was when new.

To perform a soft reset: press and hold the power button until the "power options " menu pops up. Select "power off". Once all is off, wait a minute or so, then press and hold the power button again until stuff starts to light up.

Hard or " factory " reset is done on the RAZR : settings : privacy : factory reset: follow the instructions from there. Make sure you read the warnings closely to make sure you're deleting the stuff you want to delete.

To perform a soft reset: press and hold the power button until the "power options " menu pops up. Select "power off". Once all is off, wait a minute or so, then press and hold the power button again until stuff starts to light up.

This sums it up. I would also recommend powering down your phone often for a few mins at a time. Keeps things going better.

May I ask what problems you have been experiencing?

Maybe it's just me but I thought factory and hard resets were two different things.

Soft Reset - Hold Power button down until options come up, touch power off.

Hard Reset - Hold Power Button AND Volume Down for around 10 seconds. Phone will reboot itself.

Factory Reset - Go to Settings --> Privacy --> Factory Reset. This will wipe all data from your phone and will return it to stock.

Good luck with whatever issues you have.

People... you are confusing reset with reboot terminology. The reason for the word HARD is because hardware buttons or battery is used. The reason for the word SOFT is because software (the ROM, firmware, settings) is used.

Resets wipe all data to clear bugs. Rebooted justs reboot the phone. Same computer terminology just apply it to smart phones....

Soft reboot/boot - power off phone with power key

Hard reboot/boot - remove battery while phone is on. Can't do this with RAZR so just hit power key + volume down key to simulate a battery pull.

Soft master reset - settings - privacy - factory reset

Hard master reset - power off phone - turn on phone - hold volume down and power key as phone turns on - enter fast boot mode - use volume down key to select recovery mode - android image appears - hit bottom right corner for menu - scroll down to factory reset / wipe option. - hit OK - hit yes Android RAZR resets itself to factory - when done it will prompt you to reboot - hit reboot system now. .... bam that's a DROID RAZR hard master reset..... it should only be done of you cannot access settings in the stock ROM or custom ROM!!!!!!!

The problem I am having is with Motocast I think. I was able to quick upload pictures to my email address and then all of a sudden a few days ago it stopped working. It says it is send to my address and it shows it's sending but nothing in my mail or spam. Thank you

I think I have to do the factory reset, I cant get mine to send pictures either Sandy. I was hoping it was a glitch with the tower im using while at home when I try to do quick uploads

Phone hanged. Not able to boot with soft or hard boot. Is it
