What is this Find for Fun malware and how do I get rid of it?

A

AC Question

Its on both my wifes Sony Xperia as well as my Samsung S5.
We both just got it the other day. It tells you that youve been chosen to receive a free phone or tablet. Ive tried outlook ad finder and malware bytes and neither have gotten rid of it or even found it. It seems to pop open when I open up Facebook Messenger on my phone and Facebook on my wifes phone but it also opens up on any Google search
How do I get rid of it?

I sent a report to Google but it seems there should be something that can be done to stop this. This site pops up when i open Facebook app showing a fake Facebook Newsfeed saying I have been selected to win something. When I hit back, it says my my phone is running slow and infected (same url at the top of the screen). When I back out again, I get a redirect url and the screen is blank. Back one more time and I exit back to home screen. If I go right back into Facebook, it works fine. Then I go and in again and I go back through the findforfun craziness again. I have done virus scans through my carrier and 3rd party, all say phone is clean. However this started 2 days ago and the same time my battery started draining and other apps started acting weird. Lagging, strange things. I feel confident that I'm infected and can't seem to clean it. My Note 5 was working perfectly for the last 60 days until this started. I have taken pictures of the screens if that will help. Please help!

I have been having this same issue and found where an app called "mp3 downloader" or "simple mp3" was mentioned numerous times in other forums as the culprit, it was sure enough a more recently downloaded app, I deleted it and any songs I have downloaded thru it and cleared my cashe and all those jollys and haven't had any issues since, I hope this helps ")

I have had this problem as well. Almost all the free music downloaders are the culprit. Music Paradise pro has been the one I had issues with. I deleted it and now the problem is resolved. Hope that helps.

I keep getting one that says..

Google Security Center

Dear Samsung user, your Galaxy S5 is 71.3% damaged Due to 3 process.
If you do not remove them right now, it would cause Damage to your SIM card and remove your contacts, photos, data, application as well.
Here is what you should do:
Step1: click on the button and download the application.
Step2: open the application, update and repair the phone system.

INSTALL NOW

I have a screenshot of it ...not sure how to post it.
