I've had my galaxy (first android phone ever) for a little over 6 months now. Last week a window popped up on chrome looking like it was from google and it was saying "I won a free iPhone". Ever since then I will occasionally get a notification with the chrome symbol in the top left and then on the pull down screen it looks like it is some kind of add. Anyone know what causes this to happen and how I can get rid of it?a.jpgb.jpg

Those are Chrome Notifications. You must have visited a site that is sending you push notifications that way (and sorry, but yeah, you must have pressed ALLOW to let the site send you notifications that way, or turned that setting to always allow). Fear not, however, as these are easily removed. Just open Chrome, press the menu button (three dots), go to Settings, then Site Settings (under Advanced), now tap on Notifications and voilá! There you will see a section where you can manage the sites that are allowed to send you notifications via Chrome (and you should also check that the setting is set to ASK instead of always allowing).

No problem!

Additional tip: A lot of people are using this instead of the Facebook app. You don't get the deep-integration from the app, but you get to keep push notifications directly from Chrome (you don't even need to have it open) and do away with the FB app's battery drain.
