AC Question

Hi, over the last week or so I've had a full screen pop-up advert appear, more often than not, when browsing the BBC website but also when waking the phone, which would suggest it's not just appearing when using Chrome.

It's always the same content "If you have installed:" (list of apps) "We recommend:" (Amazon Underground app and Install button).

Surely there's no such thing as a system level pop-up ad?

I also noticed it appear on my tablet which has different apps installed. I have installed AVG since and it says the phone is clean.

Phone: Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
Tablet: Sony Xperia Tablet S

Would upload a screenshot if I could!

Any help appreciated...

Here's a screenshot and video showing the advert and illustrating that it can't be closed unless you click the X...

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Some app is pushing those ads. Have you recently updated or downloaded any? I remember seeing something similar before and I think the culprit was a booster or cleaner app. Do you have something like this in your phone?

Updating apps all the time (through the Play Store) but the only recent apps I've installed on the phone are Tapatalk and Uber. Haven't installed these on the tablet though which suggests it may be an update, as you say.

How do I find out though? Uninstall ads trial and error?
