What is wrong with my battery?

I was given my tablet as a gift. It worked well at the beginning, but about 2, 3 months ago the battery has been draining to 1 percent but after a few minutes it charges itself up when the tablet is not in use. Then when I start using it again the battery quickly drains to 1 percent again. Since this problem started the tablet hasn't died.

I have tried running a factory reset on it but it didn't help.

Is there anyone who can help?

Go to Settings/General/Battery. Tap the graph to get to the second page. Look for a sharp vertical drop to zero. If you see that, the battery has developed a dendrite (see Lithium Battery Dendrite links for more information about dendrites) and has to be replaced.
