What permission allows an app to silently turn on Do Not Disturb?

I use the MetroPCS Visual Voicemail app on my Moto Z (Android 8), and from time to time, I'll discover that Do Not Disturb has been turned on indefinitely, with Android saying that it was 'turned on by an app, Visual Voicemail'. (After noticing a few silent visual alerts, I catch on.) Any ideas as to how to prevent this from happening? What permission allows the app to do this? Settings lists this app's permissions as Contacts, Phone, SMS, and Storage, none of which seem to have anything to do with Do Not Disturb.

Do you use any apps like Tasker or Macro Droid? Or maybe your unintentionally enable it in Pull down notification panel?

No, I don't use any apps like those. And the message is specific that Do Not Disturb was turned on by the Visual Voicemail app; I doubt that Android would mistake an accidental trigger from the notification panel as coming from a specific app. It's definitely an issue with the app, so that's where I need suggestions.

That's a strange one. It might be worth contacting Metro's tech support to ask about this. i can't think of any reason for Visual Voicemail to turn on DND, either.

I've triggered DND toggle myself on accident while going through the notification menu , it can happen. Long press the visual voicemail tap info>scroll down to change system settings is it allowed? If so turn off.
I still never heard or seen visual voicemail enable DND but anything possible lol
