Alright guys. I am pretty new to the android world. I am currently using an LG Dare (a major disapointment of a phone might I add), and Im looking to upgrade to a Android phone. First off let me say, the phone has to be verizon, there is no changing that. I got the dare under the false idea that they would have apps, like verizon and lg promised. They lied. A lot. I hate LG and I will never buy one of their phones again for this reason. I have been looking at the incredible, and so far, it looks kick ass. I have played with it some and love the interface and web browser. Though with rumors of the Shadow/Xtreme/Droid 2, im not sure. So here is some info to help you guys help me:
-I do not care about whether I do or dont have a physical keyboard. Not crazy about the one on the droid, Id use it if I had it, but it wouldnt break my heart not to have one
-Virtual Keyboards do not bother me
-I will not use HDMI output. I have a super powerful pro gaming laptop (a Sager) with HDMI/DVI output, thats all Ill ever need really
-I would possibly use the composite output. I have an ipod that i normally use to watch movies on my tv with, but I guess it wouldnt be bad to have it on my phone to. As I said, not super important
-I want to be able to install ROMS. I am always into upgrading, editing, and changing my phone. I love making it custom and fun and different. I want to be able to have someone with the same phone as me look at my phone and just go "Why does his phone look totally different?" I want to be able to customize, and I want to be able to change it.
-I want a phone that there is other users have. If other users have it, its more likely their will be mod, app, and rom support for it. Even if the Incredible is the best phone on the market, but noone winds up rooting it, and they just move onto the shadow or xtreme, that will piss me off
-Video recording would be cool, but I dont need a super powerful camera. The most Id use it for is Video-logging my DJ events I work.
-I plan on playing lots of games, and apps
-A larger screen is always nice, but if it doesnt look as crisp, then I feel they are about equal
-Im a dj, so if there is a phone that somehow would work better than another, Id like that
-Ill use the internet A TON. Videos, browsing, and being on forums. All of it.
-I dont twitter, but wouldnt mind some good facebook support. Not to big on facebook, but my girl might want to use my phone for it
-I want FROYO!!!

Sorry for the wall of text, but I just want to make sure I know what im getting into. Give me your opinions please!

if you want froyo quicker (through rooting), and you definitely want root access, then get a droid, as they have not made their way on to the incredible yet (though i would bet the incredible will probably get the official 2.2 update first, whenever that happens). both are great phones though, and you cant go wrong, even if you are only running stock on an incredible

EVO 4G or Desire or Nexus One.. they're top in my list..

For the stuffs u want, your best bet is still Nexus One.. they're gonna get froyo soonest..

anything but just not the [revolutionary] iPhone..

I came from the Dare as well. I had the same attitude towards the physical keyboard, but it has grown on me some. If you want to install ROMs and you want Froyo, and you want this on day one I suggest the Droid. Its what I have and I just rooted 2 weeks ago after 3 months of going stock. I just installed a Froyo ROM and am loving it.

If you are set on VZW, the Droid is your best bet. You may want to wait until the Droid 2 though, it might have stock Android (aka no MotoBlur bs)

id say wait for the droid xtreme to come out, or even the droid 2 if it comes out soon. i would hold off a bit because although the droid is nice, verizon is going to launch a better stock android phone and from what i have read its either the xtreme or the droid 2, or even both. id say give it a month if you are able to and see what comes out.

I would say go with the original Droid. While I would normally recommend waiting for the Xtreme or Droid 2 to come out next month if you want something you can root soon and have upgraded to Froyo you really a want the original Moto Droid. If you can wait a bit for your root and Froyo go with the Incredible which has now been rooted but they are having a hard time reproducing the root. Hope this helps!

I would have to echo some other posts on here and say go with the Droid. BUT, if you can wait for the next Droid to come out, and wait for it to get rooted, then that would probably be a good decision also.

he wants it on VERIZON

lol thanks. Anyway after talking to some people, I decided on the droid. The incredible just got rooted, but I have been in this situation before. I went with the 4g ipod, and then because everyone had a 3g already, noone bothered modding the 4g. Looking at Overclock comparisons, they are fairly equal, and the GPU is supposively superior. I did some fanessing with my account, and I can upgrade the 21st of june. Im ecstatic.

Get the Incredible. I love mine, it will do anything and everything that you could want (including root, sooner or later). I don't see how you could go wrong with the Moto Droid or the Incredible, i just don't care for sliders. Plus the Inc has the Sense UI which I really like.
