I'm having a hard time understanding why JUST Note 7 phones are affected by this battery issue. I can't imagine that each phone model has its own battery manufacturer, therefore if the battery supplier for the Note 7 is also supplying batteries for other Samsung phones coming out of the factory, why aren't those phones having issues?
One thing I noticed in both Note 7 models I've had is that the Quick Charging option is the DEFAULT charging option... I don't remember quick charge being the default for my Note 4. I wonder if the S7 line or even S6 line might have similarly affected batteries, but if the charging default is NOT quick charge, drastically fewer cases may arise if the issue has to do with faulty quick charging programming/firmware. I turned off my quick charge on both Note 7s from the start.
I wish Samsung could take some analytics to see if there was a common thread of all these bad batteries. The most frustrating thing about this is it seems like Samsung still doesn't know what's causing the problem.
