the Class of an SD card denotes MAINLY how fast you can write large chunks of data to it at one time.

no app uses more bandwidth than Video Recording. think about it, it has to record an entire videostream to the card in real time. its pushing quite a lot of data from RAM into the card at once.

since nothing else youll do on the phone uses as much bandwidth as video recording, its a good way to distinquish the cards.

Class 2 has enough speed for most apps and games, the write speed is quick enough for snapping pictures, standard definition video recording, and apps.

Class 4 and 6 are better for recording HD video, which the optimus V does not do.

also, since the optimus cant play any of the really high end games, it offers little to know improvement for gaming as well, as the low end games work fine.

i personally use a 4GB class 2 sandisk and I've been using it for the better part of 5 years now. bought it when it was fairly expensive. still works perfect.

I happen to need more storage, ill be getting a 8 or 16GB card, but the optimus V doesnt really use more than a class 2 speed.

someone might say itll help with aps2sd or something but its all fairly the same. real world use on this particular phone is about the same.

I will say though, that its a good idea to think long term. for me, Ill have this optimus V for another 6 months and thats about it. i will most likely be moving to a really high end phone. and that phone might be hampered by a class 2 card. and I keep my cards for years and years.

So ill buy a class 6 card now, so when the time comes to put it in a phone that can utilize that speed. i wont be buying a second card later.
