What the google s4 means for us?

Will the release of this device mean that the the "samsung" s4 will be able to get official google updates without having to wait on samsung (provided that you root the phone and install the google factory image)?:-$

Officially, Only if you buy the Google edition from Google.

If you root and a dev ports the images over, then sure you'll be able to run it. It's not a simple as just flashing the Google image.

Okay...so lets imagine that a dev ports the images over and i root my phone...will i be able to get official google android updates then (like the nexus 4) or do i have to wait for the dev to port the most recent image? Thanks!
