More aspect ratio: resolution options
Custom file names
DRO is pretty good
Silent shutter
In Auto mode, focus & metering can be on different parts of the photo
Etc

I stick with the stock app and usually manual mode. It does pretty much everything you could want, and auto mode has additional options like HDR if you need.

One thing LG really excels at is their camera app.

I've tried a few 3rd party apps over the years, I find the stock app from Samsung and LG to work best for my needs. I shoot manual almost as often as I do auto.

I do sometimes use Cinema FV-5 for video because I can set it to use audio via my Bluetooth headset. The stock and most other apps can't do this.

I bet it is Snap camera. Highly customisable with 3 camera presets. You can switch to & from wide angle via the front camera button

One thing I noticed with third party apps. & the V20 (and probably most LG smartphones): Many features like HDR, spot metering, or manual mode do not work. I read some ago that LG does not release its API to third party developers.

I've gotten HDR to work

If I need an HDR shot, I use this. Its HDR+ photos are dramatically better than the stock LG software.

Auto on HDR+ is a little different. Not sure if we are talking about same process.

With regular HDR camera, like with LG V20, Auto simply means the camera will use HDR if necessary.
With Google HDR+ Auto mode, "Auto" means it will start taking multiple photos as soon as you click shutter button. Similar to other cameras.
With Google HDR+ On mode, "On" means the camera is continuously taking multiple photos the moment you open the app. Pressing the shutter button does not take a picture, but rather gathers all the preceding photos and merge to the best. So there are many more photos that the software uses to dial in the best quality.

The way each photo is taken is very different than regular HDR as well. There are a lot of articles out there and much of it can be very confusing! Some of the older articles only talk about "Off" and "Auto", then now we have "On". I just know its better software for HDR shots. The V20 seems to over expose the highlights to me.
