Today I found a mt4g at work. I asked all of my coworkers if it was theirs and they all said no. So I'm guessing as customer left it there. I plan on waiting at least a few days and see of anyone comes to claim it. If no one does I have no clue what to do. The pattern lock is active so there's no way to find out any contact info or call any recent phone numbers. I know if I lost my evo... i would go insane... would it be ethical to wait a few days and just run a factory reset from the boot loader? Any suggestions?

Well chances are it is reported lost or stolen which would leave you with basically wifi only device. If you are having a conflict of ethics. i would just take it into sprint store and tell them you found it... since you cant use it as a phone anyway you may aswell clear your conscience

Simply take the phone to a T-Mobile company store... not some re-seller, but an actual T-Mobile store and let them deal with finding the owner. You might call T-Mobile Customer Service first and they can assist you with where to take it. The staff at the store can easily find the owner. The key.... do the right thing, get the phone back to the owner. That is what you would want someone to do if you lost your Evo!

I'm just echoing what everyone else is saying. You said it yourself. "[You] would go insane." Imagine what that person is going through. Take it to a T-Mo corp. store stat.

No one's tried calling the phone yet? Maybe the owner or a friend tried to call the phone?

I would also take it to a T-Mo corporate store to find the owner. Good things come back to those who do good things.

This is assuming that the person that owns the phone has updated the phone on their account to reflect the myTouch 4G being theirs. There is a small chance that they won't be able to track the phone to the owner. If that's the case, then, well....

Well I took the phone back to tmobile. They were suprised that someone would be nice enough to bring it back... they're did however say check back with them to see how things pan out... i have no use for the phone... i just hope they get it back. I will say that the build of the phone is exceptional

If you still have/had the phone you could try pluging in the phone by usb and check the photos to see if there any photos of the owner you might know.

If it is setup to connect to the PC as a drive, it will still pick up the files even with the lock screen pattern setup.

either way you could take the sd card out and look at the pics without the phone if you were to try this

however it is very easy for tmobile to track a phone back to it's owner by simply entering the number on the phone and pull their acc info up and give them a call saying they had their phone
