What was LG thinking with the app panel design?

I'm coming from an HTC 10 upgrade, which unfortunately happened due to damaging it.

I'll try to be brief. The panel icons should be shortcuts, not actual file management. This is a very poor design. How you can just swipe an app icon off the panel to uninstall is too much off the top admin power (the ones your allowed to, and that's another story).

How you also have to have every app icon you own on the panels is ridiculous. There's an alt option to put them in an app drawer, but then you can only have play store and a handful of system icons on the panels.

Huh? Lol

Also, I understand you can hide apps. This is also ridiculous. I'm not going to sift through 100s of apps to hide/unhide, then not know what the hell I have installed on my phone when time passes by. I shouldn't have to resort to settings app management either. Terrible design.

Do you have an LG G6? Are you talking about not having an app drawer? If so, go to Settings>Display>Home Screen>Select Home>Home & app drawer. Select this. This is more like the standard screen for Android. The default is Home, which is more like Apple. LG offers three Home screens. EasyHome is pretty straight forward but a little too simplistic for me. I hope this helps.

No it doesn't help but thanks

I don't know what your talking about to be honest. I came from an HTC 10 as well and think this phone is a huge upgrade. One thing I had to get used to was swiping left to right vs up and down when opening the app drawer.

App drawer works great by the way. And I have two panels of go to apps that get me through almost everything I do.

You can also group them as needed.

Also, if you delete an app, it is still in your Google play library to retrieve if needed.

I also came from using an HTC 10 and I don't get what the problem is. Maybe you need to set it up differently. I changed mine to use an app drawer (didn't need to download anything) and it acts just like the 10 now. There's no shifting through hundreds of apps. You're doing something wrong.

Well said!

I had an HTC 10 too, and I don't really understand this post. There is an app tray like people are saying.

Are you guys kidding me?

I don't want every icon to exist on the screen panels, just my selected ones. Plus I want an interface where I can see them all easily.

I would've never left the HTC 10 but i FUBAR'ed it, and you can't get it anymore. I'm not a fan of the 11, don't like the squeeze features. HTC 10 had its issues with apps randomly loading up if you run with it, which was annoying, but it was beautiful and well organized.

This phone has a better cpu and twice the hard drive, but that's it. And for my needs, it's marginal at best.

Have you ever enabled the app drawer. You should not have every icon on the screen panels like a IPhone . If you enable the app drawer.

Yes, I understand that, cooper_m22.. And when you do that, how do you edit the icons that are on the panels ?

If it works the same on my LG V20, you can just press and hold on one of the panels to add/remove apps and widgets. You can also open the app drawer and long press the apps you want to add to a panel. If the panel is empty, it even tells you what to do.Capture%2B_2018-08-15-20-00-40.jpg

The "app drawer" is also a psedo app list, it still remembers your personal directories and org of files, it's stupid. The only real app list is in settings

You can't add apps, Mooncatt.

I did when I was testing this (I personally use another launcher), and you should be able to on yours too.

So what are you wanting, for it to list apps alphabetically or by download date? It can do that as well.
