Since chat threads are ok, what was your phone before the Bionic?

I had the original DROID by Motorola (A855). Solidly built. After a year with it, I started getting bored - and the phone started feeling sluggish. New battery + ROMs by Peter Alfonso + an overclock (usually 800MHz, sometimes 1GHz) and it was like a brand new phone.

I had an LG Ally (I know, stop snickering). It was my first "smart"phone, got it because Best Buy had it free with upgrade in August 2010. Fast forward to September 2011, pleaded my case for earlier than eligible upgrade to get the Bionic and it worked. I've been thoroughly satisfied, and now that I have a tablet I may not need an oversized phone at my next upgrade. But, will probably buy as much technology as I can afford at that time.

My most recent phone before the Bionic was the Droid Incredible 2. Think it's bad waiting for JB on the Bionic? Summer of last year they promised ICS on the DINC2 by fall. It's now spring (darn near) and still no ICS, and no word as to why.

When Bionic received its ICS it was the last straw, did some swapping and ended up with a Bionic.

Well, officially it was the regular Droid Razr. I had it for about a week before I couldn't stand the poor screen image quality anymore and traded for the Bionic. Before that, I had the LG Optimus S on Sprint as my entry level Android device. It served me well while I had it, for the most part.

i had an eris. and then when my husband upgraded from his og droid, i got to use that for about 3 months. i'm still loving this bionic, got it on release day.

htc evo 4g

that was a damn good phone. wish i could say the same about my bionic.

Motorola DROID X.

Absolutely great phone right up to the point when I got the Bionic. Gave the DX to my wife to get her on a smartphone until her upgrade was due, and sadly it started to act erratically not long afterward. Fortunately, her upgrade was coming quickly, and she grabbed the Incredible 4G its first weekend of release.

Bionic has had its share of ups and downs for me, but ICS (after a one month "settling in" period) has breathed new life into it.

Mine was the HTC Incredible. That was the first and went straight to the Bionic. I think I'll be making my next from Verizon on the Bionic too.

Quoting you saved me a lot of typing. I have the exact same story.

Palm Pre Plus. Although I'm now thoroughly spoiled by the Bionic's hardware, I still find myself missing WebOS sometimes.

iPhone 3Gs (3G was my first smartphone, but iPhones are no where near as durable as Droids!) with AT&T.

I switched because I wanted 4G speed and the Verizon network. I really like the customized nature of Android, but hate the update process through VzW. Fortunately, HoB provided me with ICS a couple months early (should've done it way before then).
