What will Eris running 2.1 not do that Incredible running 2.2 can?

I am thinking about getting an Incredible for me and an Eris for my wife.

Other than speed, and java, what practical things will the Eris not be able to do that the Incredible will? Don't think my wife will need to have the fastest phone, as long as it will do about everything the Incredible will do.

I assume it will be able to run all the apps and have all of the same functionality, maybe just a little slower? It won't have the ability to stream video because of flash, but anything else?

You will still be able to view lots of video, like on YouTube. Mostly the concern with the Eris is that you would be out of luck for sure when the next version of Android, 2.3, comes out HTC wouldn't update it. And who knows what cool stuff might be in there besides what we already know (OTA app syncing, stream music from your computer etc)

Well, already the Eris with 2.1 does not have Friendstream, which puts all of the social community links for each of your contacts in a singled stream (i.e., their Facebook posts, twitter posts, etc.) The Eris also does not have speech to text in the keyboard.

HTC does customize Sense compared with stock Android builds, so it's hard to say what features they might add to 2.2 on the Incredible that are not in 2.1, and which are slightly different from stock FroYo.

Thank you. Stuff like this is what I am looking for. Is there a website out there that will show this stuff? I can find websites that compare the hardware, but haven't found anything that compares the features.

Boy, that's a good question. Frankly, I was just relying on the review and posts here at Android Central of the features of the Incredible vs. what I have seen on my Eris.

Here is the review of the Incredible: http://www.androidcentral.com/review-verizon-htc-droid-incredible

You may want to post this same question in the Incredible thread, asking any Eris users who did get the update to 2.1 who upgraded to the Incredible what they found to be different. Saying that, there may not be a huge number of people who have done that...

Yeah, this idea may be shot. We went into Best Buy to get a feel for things. The first phone we saw was the Evo. Her reaction? "Ooooh, I like that!".
