Alright dudes and dudets I might be deving a ROM soonish... I have no idea when, probably when I have a bit more understanding of the android SDK/System/ect, but either way in the future ill probably make one.

Questions for all of you;

What features do you like in a ROM thats built-in?
Do you like it minimal? Or fully loaded?
Do you like a lot of customization options?
How important is UI performance? Is it more important then Game Graphics performance?

Just write down what you like in a ROM, I'll go through it(Lol script) and tally up.

My goal for this ROM I'm thinking is a full community built ROM. I'll make a nice system base, and we all dev for everything else.

So please let me know, either way ur opinion won't go to waste, im sure the rest of the devs could use this as well :)

-full color change theming options
-transparent status bar/dropdown notification bar options
-semi transparent popup backgrounds (50% should do it)

Do you like it minimal? Or fully loaded?
-minimal... allows for quick installation with minimal internal loss... users can add what they want post install to sd/ext...

Do you like a lot of customization options?
-yes... the more the merrier...

How important is UI performance?
-extremely... everybody's in search of a lagless experience...

Is it more important then Game Graphics performance?
yes... games are meant to be played on gaming consoles (or pc's)... not old hardware that wasnt supposed to allow us anything but the basics... (imo)

Clodfelterac just basically describe Backside and AOKP so maybe combine them somehow, someway.

the culmination of some BACKside features intertwined with aokp and semi transparent popups is everything i could ever want in an ov rom... probably just a pipe dream... but dreams lead to creativity... creativity leads to productivity... productivity leads to reality... :-)

Can't build on 32-bit!? You need a 64 bit for building?

Ither way, my specs suck. :)

You can, but the toolchain used for kernels in jellybean requires 64-bit and idk how to change it. I can build ics fine on 32-bit

Aokp w/inverted google apps for starters.

UI tweakability is paramount.

YouTube would be nice.

I'm not claiming im able too, I'm just asking for what people would want in a ROM. From that I'll get an idea of what people are mostly looking for in a ROM.

I'll be able to do some of it of course, but I just want an idea. Don't wanna shoot in the dark :p

So far it seems people are more focused with Fast GUI, and Customization. So that something I could do. Since there are a lot of mods for this stuff, and CM9/AOKP are made for this stuff in the first place.

Also I already have a buildbox, runs Ubuntu server. I have the SDK's for CM7/9 so I'll be playing with those, I would say in december I could start my own project. I can see there is a lot to understand, so we will see what the future leads. All I know is I want to give something back to this community, so at some point it will come.

I'm just saying, people say what they want, without thinking about how hard it is. On XDA there was a thread that started like this. People said what they wanted, and he went to work. He made a thread with WIP with screenshots and no download. That guy is now hated in that one phone section. Most comments said:

Where's download? :mad::mad::mad:

In the end, I'm just saying, its not easy to make something. A simple UI and good performance is enough.

But do as you wish, good luck :)

keep at it... youll get there... but for future reference, heed thatguys advise... please dont advertise a rom if you cant actively support it... (not that you would, just saying)... i think this thread was a good idea... :-)

Trust me i saw all of that, and no way in hell I'll be doing that. I'm just seeing what features people would like, just so I can see what I should add in IF POSSIBLE.

Trust me I'm not one of those people who cant admit they cant do it.

For example, I learned people care about customization A LOT. I really dnt care for it, I just wanna know what you guys might want is all :)

EDIT:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I know what im going to use for a base, I'm going to use CM7 with IHO; I'll use CM9/10 when tdm can work his magic on a ICS kernel base.

From what I know now I'm going to focus fully on performance for the system, along with a good base for total system customization. These shouldn't be to hard to do, mostly because CM7 has a good base for customization, and IHO REALLY adds a kick to performance.

I'll probably be using MiRage kernel, I'll be asking mrg666 soonish to see if I can use his kernel for the system, It really agrees with me with what it offers :D. I'll probably just add some configs/optimization/customizations to boost performance for the system :)... kernel wise at least.
