I like the motorola stock command center widget but it does not allow 3rd party support... is there something that's very similar to it around?

One More Clock Widget (paid or free) may be a suitable replacement. I use it. It's great. One of the available themes is called "Chrome Rings" and it's visually very similar to the DROID Command Center. It can be customized to launch any app you'd like. (Several, actually. Depends on where you tap.)

Internal weather is pulled from 7Timer.com, NOAA or Yr.no. The default setting is automatic. I assume it picks the provider closest to your location. I haven't changed it, and it seems to work just fine. Once the internal forecast screen is up, it gives an option to go to Accuweather for an alternate forecast.

What's awesome about One More Clock is *any* weather app can be configured to open upon tapping an area of the widget. Any app at all can be selected.

This one is worth the $2-3 it costs to have it customizable. You can launch 9 different apps from the widget depending on where you tap. I have two weather apps linked on my temp circle, my own alarm app linked to the clock...but you can link any app that you want. And he replies to questions!

There is a custom widget skin for UCCW and Zooper Widget apps. It's called Ultra, and it's exactly the carbon copy of the Motorola Command Center. It is definitely supported by third-party launchers. It even comes in four different color combinations, and you can set a hotspot on the widget so that when you click on it it can either refresh weather data or open an app of your choosing. You have to have UCCW or Zooper installed though to be able to use it.

Here's the Play Store link for UCCW (the one I would recommend):
/store/apps/details?id=in.vineetsirohi.customwidget&hl=en

The Ultra Widget Skin Lite (the free version):
/store/apps/details?id=com.zathus.freeultrawidget&hl=en

The Ultra Widget Skin (paid):
/store/apps/details?id=com.zathus.ultrawidget&hl=en

*Just add the play store link before the links above as I am apparently not yet allowed to post links.

For just one buck however, you can have many different color combinations as seen in one of my screenshot attachments:
