I am a VZW customer wanting to trade my S9+ for the 20+. My husband doesn't want to trade in his Note so it's a single phone upgrade.

Not sure if I should go with Verizon or directly through Samsung and use Rakuten. VZW of course is trying to push thru them and get free 5g access and Hatch streaming (whatever) that is and a free month of YouTube TV.

I don't really care that much about the freebies and would rather apply the extra credit toward getting the cost of the actual phone down if possible.

I go through this game every time it is time to upgrade...

I think it's best to go through Samsung and get the best trade in for your phone also you can get the unlocked model and be free of any contracts. This is assuming that you aren't under some contract with verizon.

Good luck.

I'm with Verizon and truth be told other then when I first signed on with them like 3 years ago I haven't bought a phone through them since. The last 3 phones I've got were through Best buy bc they at the time gave the best trade in value. One time I got 600 credit for an old beat up s7 active. Verizon's trade in values suck imo. This time I went through samsung.com instead of Best buy to save on some taxes and decided to go unlocked for a chance to save having to pay the activation fee. I know I'll lose some features with the unlocked version but nothing I'll miss I don't think at least but I have heard worse case scenario I can flash Verizon firmware on it.
