First off i go to task manager and clear the ram, after about 10 minutes and not using the phone at all it clears 54 apps! Where are those 54 apps working? I installed gsam but its as helpful as the stock battery manager. Shows me the apps ive used but under android system its just gibberish. What should i be looking for. I have facebook, twitter and instagram syncing every 2 hours i believe. Thats 3 times in 6 hours and its already at 30% I dont get very good service at school but gsam shows android system at about 80% radio at around 10% and screen around 10% The only widgets im running are the stock weather/clock; picture frame almost as big as i can get it; and the small alarm clock widget. Anyway i can check whats chewing it up

I run widgets and used to experience battery drain. Then I read about Juice Defender on this forum and that helped control the battery life. They have 3 different versions. They have a free version and others that range from $2-$4.

The thing i dont like about juicedefender is how data gets shut off and takes a while to get back up and running

JD should not take more than 2-3 seconds to connect unless you have a weak signal. I left it off the other day and got a whopping 4 hours on battery with about 20 minutes of on screen time. With it and about the same screen time I got 6 hours. Not a great improvement but better than 4 hrs without it. I am in a fringe signal area, both instances were on 3G. On wifi, I can get about 7 1/2 hrs. Next time I'll remember the screen shots. This was on a NS4G, stock not rooted JB 4.1.1

Have you tried disabling the widgets and synching to see if it solves your problem? It sounds like something is going crazy in the background. If disabling those does not help, at least you know the problem is somewhere else.:)

Also, I've never found a need for Juice Defender or other battery "saving" apps on this phone. You certainly don't need to manage tasks/RAM on these phones, as the Android OS is good at doing that.

Factory reset! May be a bogus app or something corrupted.

I have no issues with a reset but I can see how others would. Just back up things.

I think i may have to does it back up by itself? At times the screen also flickers, like completely goes black for a second or two and then comes back on

It doesn't backup by itself. You'll have to back your phone up yourself before doing a factory reset.

two words; Modern war. That game was eating my battery in the background and was making my screen go entirely black. Once i erased it everything worked fine and im up to 7 hours of a lot of use and only at 65%

Apps that occupy RAM don't kill your battery, its the apps that are using the CPU that drain the battery.

Go to task manager > Active Applications (leftmost tab) to see what app is using the CPU. Other things to consider are widgets that are set to refresh often (like once every 5 mins). In addition frequent backing up and syncing can also drain the battery fairly quickly due to high amount of wireless data and CPU usage.

Being in a poor service area will tear up a battery faster than anything else I have seen. If service is good then you more than likely have a rogue app. Getting only 4 - 6 hours of battery life with moderate use seems nuts to me. Something is definitely wrong.

I agree, i am getting great battery life on my phone. I think as other suggested you have a rouge app or poor signal. What have you downloaded and installed on your phone recently? Or around the time that you started to experience the poor batter life?

gsam wasnt really helpful. Looked on gsam and everything seemed in order except for android system which just told me a bunch of gibberish. Went into the app manager and saw that modern war, mutant roadkill, lets golf, jelly jump, and another game where all in the "running" column. Stopped them all and now is running perfect with excellent battery life. Yes the poor reception will get you but you will know because the phone radio will be whats chewing up the battery, not android system. Definitely look at "running" under the app manager. Also anyone know what cached processes are? Those same games are always running in the "cached background process" and there is no way to stop them without deleting them
