Hey all
I've occasionally gleaned a tip or trick from these forums by way of google, and saw today my blog was getting traffic from a thread over here, so I went ahead and signed up.
I just rooted my third Android device this weekend--it was the simplest device, a Nook First Edition reader from 2009 running Android 1.5, but the biggest pain by far. The rooting method is the equivalent of feeding quarters to a slot machine all day and hoping you get a jackpot, and being ready to grab a bucket (push init.rc) when you do. Of course, it doesn't help when you break the handle off the slot machine and have to do some welding, so to speak >_>
Most of my online Android activity involves the Nook Color, which is a great platform for flashing ROMs and playing with mods, due to the bootable SD slot (and the price! Refurbs are down to $120-130, half what I paid 8 months ago). I've about run the gamut of stuff I'm interested in doing with it, at least until CM9 is halfway stable, but I'm still keeping the guides on my blog up to date.
Anyway, I'm mostly active over on XDA and on mobileread (and unrelatedly, on dreamviews.com, a lucid dreaming site). Happy hacking
