Everyone seems to be freaking out about Android 2.1. I love my Eris. It's a little slow and I have a charging cable in my car, and at every computer station I sit at. Is the 2.1 update going to make that big a difference. What will it do to make my Eris better? (Newbie):)

2.1 is a big deal because it offers fixes to problems that we all had on 1.5 and new features that many would like to have. Here are a few things off the top of my head:

- Faster/better performance
- Better memory management
- Longer battery life
- Working Youtube app
- Better camera app
- Updated market with more apps available and picture/video preview
- Google Navigation
- New features for the Sense UI (Full screen weather animation)
- Improvements on some of the stock apps
- New Widgets
- More settings for better control

For me, there is only one reason. Google Nav. I love everything else about the phone (except the battery life :) ).

yah i know in root you can do what ever you want
You can turn sense off. Go to settings.manage applications.htc sense.clear defaults. Then press the home key and it will ask you if you want to use sense or home, and select home. If you want to keep it that way just tap the box to make that the default also. Of you want to switch back do the same procedure but select sense.

I'm looking forward to simply having more apps available - especially the Google Nav and Google Goggles.

My battery life hasn't been much of a problem, but then, I don't use the phone much, oddly. And I don't have a lot of widgets that auto-update throughout the day either.
