I'm just curious because I received a 0004 evo on warranty exchange, it's a refurb obviously, original activation 11/26/10.

STILL has light leakage on the bottom, bottom very slightly loose and raised.

Just wondering what the latest hardware revision is. I thought they would have fixed the screen problem by now.

Is there a 0005 yet, 0006???

My original, a 0003 from mid july, had no light leakage either. To be honest though I never really checked thoroughly if the screen was was raised up on the bottom, but I don't think it was.

I am probably off by saying this but i think the hardware version is less of a "revision" and more of an assembly line issue. Which line or which manufacturing plant it came from.
I only say this because i got mine on launch day and mine is an 0003. I find it hard to believe they had 3 different hardware revisions of the phone and at the time the phone hasnt been on the market.

I also know recently they had new units with different camera modules, that would definately qualify as a revision as something has changed in the manufacturing but thats only been found in version 0004, as far as i know.

I think they just use the numbers to track what plant the units were manufactured at. But if i am wrong someone please feel free to let me know.

I'm thinking the same thing since mine has the updated camera stuff, but is still a 003 like a lot of them that were bought on launch day.

actually, they are actual revisions. the first series was 002 model which people that pre-ordered and first day adopters got, my original was an 002 model. Then, i believe it was samsung who was manufacturing their screens, said they were backlogged with making them and so HTC went with another vendor. that is why some people noticed a difference from the 002 model screens and 003. Then, as you stated there was another revision with the camera, which brings us to 004. Im not exactly sure what was the issue, but ill assume you have more information on that.

See that is good info. I forgot that they did have the Samsung screens at first and were backlogged and HTC switched.
I just know i got mine on launch day (2nd to last one in the store when i got it) and it was 003. I might be wrong in my assumption that it could be which facility or line it came off of.
OR it is more likely a combination of both. Its possible HW 0002 had samsung LCDs and were from one plant and 0003 had the other LCD and were at a different plant or line.

To the poster who was asking how to get that info.

Settings > About Phone > Hardware Information > Hardware Version
mine says 0003
