What's the point of ROM Manager?

I figure we all have it for Clockwork Recovery, but other then that essential tool, what good does having rom manager do? So far it has been of no use to me. It won't boot into recovery from the UI, it doesn't properly backup the rom, presumably because it has no support for it by ways of ota. Aside from CWM (which I pushed through the rooting process, not ROM manager) I really don't see a point for it.

Opinions?

What ROM are you using? Do you have the right version of ROM Manager? Because it boots into recovery straight from the UI and will auto run backup/restore as well as ROM install with cache wipe. One click. If the version you are using doesn't do that - update clockwork recovery again, or go to the archive built into rom manager and flash different versions of clockwork recovery until you get one that works properly. Im on CM7 nightly's and using Clockwork recovery 2.6.0.1. Works like a dream.

All sounds valid but since the OP is required to use CWM3.x.x.x due to EXT4 filesytem. Clockwork v2.6.0.1 will not work on ROMs using EXT4 filesystem with Edify scripting running CWM3.0.0.5

So I think in this case ROM Manager cannot be used unless it supports CWM3?
