What's with that black bar across the bottom of the Moto 360 watch face?

Well? Why not fill the whole display with screen? Why a black bezel above the watch bezel?

Ever since Rene pointed it out it catches my eye and I think it makes the Moto 360 look terrible when it would have otherwise been the absolute best Android Wear device out.

It's a technical necessity. That's where the display driver and the ambient light sensor lives. Moto did think about making the bezel bigger like on the LG G R, but decided against it. It's something you get used to in a hurry, and the super thin bezel just looks so much better than a thick one or some ring around it.

Ah. Ambient light sensor. Got it.

I just wish it wasn't a complete black zone across the bottom. Perhaps a little insert from the main bezel to contain the light sensor would've been more to my tastes. Oh well.

They made it as small as they could, if you do some research on it you'll see it's not a simple matter getting a bezel to be that small.

You really stop noticing it once you start using it. I was somewhat distracted by it looking at the photos online, but it starts to become an afterthought.

Especially with a black watch face, you almost don't even notice that it's cutting off at the bottom, my eyes barely even register/remember that it's there. I've gotten tons of compliments on how great it looks.
