What's with the Apple Bias?

I've tried out Apple products, never purchased one but tried them at the stores and tried out friends iPhones, iPads and iPods and I will say they are good products and obviously the masses enjoy them however, they weren't fulfilling my needs enough to purchase. I really don't understand the clear bias that is present when I read articles from random reviewers are periodicals from newspapers from mass media, it seems that the media puts apple on a pedestal even when they haven't done anything particularly great with a new product. When an Android Mobile manufacturer, expecially Samsung does something innovative new or groundbreaking the media barely covers it or give acknowledgement. Yet, as soon as an Android manufacturer makes something with just a slightly similar feature or look of an Apple product the media makes sure they point it out. Even Android reviewers will point out that iPhone has this feature or "like iPhone this product now has this" . But when apple brings out a new feature on one of its products even when it's a direct copy of things that Android manufacturers have done for years they rarely will reference the Android manufacturer or Android OS for that matter, they act as if it's a completely new thing that no one has ever seen before.

I don't understand that concept but it's very evident on almost every article I read, especially Apple reviewers! They really show a bias to a point where I can't even read any of their articles anymore. On the contrary when I see an Android reviewer talk about Apple they usually speak very professionally and objectively. So it appears to me that mass media whom the writer clearly doesn't know alot about phones and they've only had iPhone's the last few yrs along with Apple product reviewers champion apple no matter what, while Android product reviewers give thoughtful, objective reviews and still give credit where credit is do to Apple when necessary, although they probably shouldn't because nobody else is giving Android or Android mobile manufacturers their credit hardly ever! Android reviewers even criticise products! While I rarely here a Apple reviewer dare criticise an apple product, they usually will just mention how it will become a genius feature at some point even if its not great right now. Am I the only person that has notice is this?

This is very true. I have a samsung phone and an iPad Mini. I really like both of them but find myself using my phone a lot. Android is so simple and easy-to-use period however the iPad is really cool because of this FaceTime feature as I know a lot of people that still use iPods. I will not say that Apple is bad but I am really enjoying Android since I moved over from an iPhone to an Android phone.

Also I have noticed the apps crash a lot more frequently on my Apple devices that I have owned. I have not had this happen once on my android phone.

See, you like what you like and have products for both OS. That's awesome and you can give credit to both. I don't know why most people I hear from or read an article from can't seem to do that.

Don't read anything about tech from the mainstream media. None of them know what they are talking about. They just type anything for sensational headlines and click bait. Stick to Mobile Nations and other tech websites for tech news, opinions, and reviews.

Very true, agree with you 110% ! They think their products are godlike. Everything with an apple logo is bowed down to.

Its not just the news it's people also, if apple didn't come out with it.. Its not important or a big deal, its more like ehhh. Apple apple apple, omfg apple is the best blah blah. .. Apple products are just super hyped.. And people think that's the only way to go...

I have tried BB (BBOS and BB10), WP and recently, Android. I'd say compared to iOS. They are more functional. I think Apple is really just good at marketing.

To give them credit though, they emphasize usability and they had optimized their hardware to their OS as they have surprisingly "lower" specs but runs very fast.

Yup, look at the Apple watch as an example. How many Android Wear watches have come out in the last year? Yet there is ZERO coverage on the national news about it. Apple announces/releases the Apple Watch and the news has a full 5 minute segment on the ONE PRODUCT.

The Apple marketing people are the REAL geniuses of the company. Sure, the hardware is second-to-none in many cases (find me a Windows laptop you'd have no concerns about picking up by one corner ALL the time) but, especially with mobile, the software isn't THAT much to write home about. For desktop/laptop, I DO prefer OS X over Windows, mobile is Android (and I DO use an iOS device for work).

Yeah, apple watch is ugly.. Idk or maybe none of these companies invest in advertising...

Very true statement, Apple is king of optimization mainly because it's only a few phones I suppose. I guess it's hard for Android developers to optimize an app or OS for 100s of different phones with different hardware.

I see plenty from trusted tech sites -- I don't trust mainstream when it comes to reviewing anything in technology.
