What's wrong with my battery?

So I got my Nexus 4 last week and I just got everything set up. And instead of using my iPod I used my Nexus to listen to some music to help me sleep. Before I went to sleep the Nexus was at 40% and had Wifi and network on. Then when I woke up it was dead. Is this normal?? Or is mine just bad? Oh and I bought it secondhand off of Craigslist being the cheapskate I am.

As much as I love my N4, battery life is horrendous.

My Nexus 4 runs from the early morning until I go to bed, with no problem. What does your battery monitor show is using the battery? My phone also charges at night, so the battery is never an issue while I am sleeping.

Are you saying you fell asleep with the music player on and it played music all night long? In that case, it might be normal depending on how long you slept. If it was just in sleep mode with nothing running, it wouldn't be normal.

If I play music at night I use Player Pro App and set the sleep timer on it to quit after 1 hour.

I was asleep for 9 hours and I was using Play Music and streaming music from the cloud.

Most of the time it's always Display using my battery and Lookout. And if I may add a second question is Lookout any good? I came from a Apple experience and this is my third Android device; first a Dell Streak 7 which was okay but then broke, a Motorola CLIQ which I think ran on Froyo? I'm not sure and now the N4 WHICH I LOVE. So is Lookout any good or is there a better app for locating your device if stolen?

I use Cereberus which has many more features than lookout. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&hl=en&token=gplFw5h4

Battery life is awful on the Nexus 4. And it cannot be upgraded. There is no way around it besides buying a power pack. There are case+battery products on the horizon supposedly for the nexus 4, but I have not actually seen anything on the market yet.

That being said, your iPod is a dedicated music player, and the Nexus 4 does a great deal more. Talking to cell towers, background processes, ect...eat up battery life.

If you are going to have it play music at night, you should probably just plug it in.

Just download a timer app that will automatically turn your music off at the time you picked, saving juice.

I have no issues with battery life, getting two days out of one charge with fair usage.

You've left your phone streaming which requires constantly downloading over your WiFi network overnight whilst listening to music, I'm not surprised it went flat! In fact, I don't know any phone that wouldn't! From a full charge I think you could probably expect 8 hours play time without streaming.
