Whats wrong with my phone and storage?

[Android Central Question]

My phone storage ran low so i got and external sd card to boost it. After mounting the sd card, i moved all my music, photos and videos to the sd card to free up to 20 GBs on the internal storage. But after moving all the files to the sd card, later the phone alerted that the card is corrupted but no space was created in the internal storage and all the files are not there.
Where are the files since the space that was supposed to be created was not created ??

Welcome to Android Central! SD cards are much more prone to failure or corruption than onboard storage, and there are also a lot of counterfeit cards on the market (that are much smaller in storage size than they claim -- so if you exceed the actual storage, your data becomes corrupt). Where did you purchase the SD card ? You try unmount then mount the card ?
