What's your monthly VZW plan?

Right now I'm on Talk & Text 450mins for $60/month. Since I have a gvoice number, I'm thinking about using that for texting and switching to just 450min talk for $40/month + the data plan. What plan are you on?

I don't think it's treated as an SMS since gvoice is via 3g. My friend who has a motodroid is doing it that way.

Uhh... I'm on the 700 minute family plan with 3 total lines, two of them with 250 messages of texting each.

I just switched to the 700 minute family talk plan w/ 2 lines. Previously had the "Americas choice 700 family plan" but that wasn't compatible w/ the phone I was getting the wife. I'm, of course, getting the Incredible.

Been on the discount since a couple months ago...it was like a gift from VZW LOL

400 minutes, 500 TXT with unlimited IN MSG, and data...plus discount!

Might switch to a family plan next week if my brother decides to get a DI

I can confirm that Verizon does not charge for SMS through Google Voice. It is free to send and receive them. I checked my SMS count right before I started using Google Voice on the Droid I had for three weeks (just returned so I can get the Incredible tomorrow). Three weeks later, after sending and receiving many texts, the count was exactly the same.

Bottom line? If you are okay with using Google Voice as your SMS app, and can get everyone to send texts to your Google Voice number, you have free SMS and no need to pay for a text plan with Verizon. So you've got that going for you, which is nice.

I current have 450min with unlimited data and use gvoice for all texts and even give out my gvoice to everyone to call me I pay about 60/month after my 20% discount on service and data
