As ever WhatsApp makes this more complicated than it need be. Few of your friends are going to delve into Settings. The average person never goes into Settings.

It should just remember what you left it on.

We've all got phones with 5G and 128GB+ storage. There's no need to still be sending 200Kb photos. Even HD is only 2MB.

There should also be an option to send the original file.

At least this is something.
