Question WhatsApp keeps force quitting upon launch

Hi, I use Android, a Xiaomi product (MIUI 12.5)

The app just keeps force closing, no matter how many times I launch it, the app kills itself immediately, I noticed a few times that the appearance of the app changes to that of older versions on startup, I figured out that the app only works if I switch off mobile data and WiFI, this all started 2 hours ago, been trying to resolve this since. My phone is rooted but that never caused me any issues before.

I tried restarting my phone and reinstalling the app, no dice, what could be causing this? What do I do?

Welcome to Android Central! Did you install this from the Play Store, or from somewhere else?

Try clearing the app cache/data in Settings>Apps, then Force Stop it and open it again. I'm not sure if clearing the app data will wipe any locally saved message threads, so make sure they're backed up somewhere first. If you're worried about this, you can just start with clearing the app cache and then Force Stop, to see if that's enough.

Hi, so I already tried killing the app in the background, clearing all data and reinstalling the app, I did my usual backup and restore with titanium backup, and the issue persists

Also for a long time now, I've been backing up my WhatsApp chats and app data locally by keeping the database files and using Titanium backup, it's more reliable than the Google drive backups in my experience, I get all my chats and stickers back each time

But get this!! Now all of a sudden, WA won't let me in unless I start afresh, it's very disheartening, I'll lose all my chats and 10+ years worth of stickers, idk if there's any way I can at least save my chats and stickers, I have the WA databases and app data backed up, I sure hope there is.

Oh mb, I didn't answer your first question, yes Installed it from Google play store, sometimes I restore WA app and all with Titanium backup tho, the base apk is totally clean.

Hmm, and this is on a different device (i.e., your laptop or desktop computer)? I'm just trying to determine if the problem is with the WhatsApp app on your phone vs your WhatsApp account anywhere.

this is on my laptop, I have an internet connection but it just won't connect to WA

WA app on my phone suddenly started force quitting itself immediately after launch except when I turned off the internet, I tested it in a state where absolutely all my data was gone and it worked fine with my account online.

Someone told me my data was possibly deemed corrupt so I can't use WA or come online with my existing app data, I deleted it all, backed up and restored my data locally, tried to connect, and then the app force quits

I don't have any cloud backups, only local app data and databases, I just want to resolve the issue and keep my saved stickers at least, there has to be some way to retrieve them.
