You can download that update from the whatsapp page. It hasn't be released through the Play Store yet.

I actually love it. I installed the apk from the whats app site and wow it's great

I don't need the update, so I'd rather wait until it comes through the 'official' channels rather than sideloading APKs...even if they're official ones. That always messes things up at one point or another.

Anyway, I'm in China right now Everything Google is pretty much blocked, so can't update anything until I get back to 'normal'.
