Well, are you drooling and looking at YouTubes of this thing every 30 minutes or are you waiting patiently or just not that in to it?

I voted for WiFi only version...for now. I'm going to wait and see what type of response the Xoom has upon release and go from there. If it's good enough, I won't mind pitting into a 3G version of it.

I hear you, I think that's a smart move and especially for anyone who is rooted or pays for tethering, why get another data plan? I think I'm jumping in and just going to buy it out right though - lol - I'll justify it by not having to pay a monthly bill on it.

I'm not going to camp out, but I'll go that morning and pick one up.

Drooling, but entirely depends on the cost. Especially if they dont offer a wifi only one to start. Still, makes my heart swell at the way tablets are progressing.

I will just buy one off-contract from Verizon. It may cost more but I'll be one of the first to get it and it'll be less expensive than paying for a contract over time.

I've been drooling and watching a lot of youtube videos also LOL! I voted waiting for the wi-fi model but, it just depends on the cost. I also want to see how it performs first-hand.

If the cost isn't too crazy and it performs as smooth as the video demos show, I'll probably get it right away.

Prob will wait for LTE, I'll just have to see. Don't know if I'll have the money right away, lol

I think I'd wait for a wifi version of the xoom. I don't personally feel the need to have to be able to use my tablet anywhere. That's why I have a smartphone.

When they make a Wi-Fi only version at a reasonable price! $700 or $600 is insane! I won't consider until it's under $500 retail Wi-Fi.

Heck a netbook for $300 is a smarter buy right now.

Have fun waiting.

First of all, how long do you think it's going to take Moto to sell the Xoom (Wi-Fi only or not) for less than the off contract price of the Droid X ($580)? My guess would be never, or at least until 2 weeks before the Xoom2 is coming out.

Secondly, do you honestly think that Verizon (who has exclusivity for the Xoom) is going to let Motorola sell a Wi-Fi only Xoom at a lower price? If a Wi-Fi version comes to the US at all, I'm guessing 3rd quarter at the earliest. Heck, it took Samsung 4 months for a Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab, and they didn't have an exclusivity agreement with any carrier.

Really good point. People could be depriving themselves of the XOOM experience only to find out they saved an insignificant amount.

Better to just bite the bullet and enjoy being the first on your block with this awesome device.

Wifi-only version and a cheaper price if it's not competitive with the IPad I'm going the way of the rotten fruit

It's interesting that all the polls floating around, asking pretty much the same question, seem to result in 30-40% of people getting one on launch day or soon after. I actually thought it would be lower, but for the record, I do fall into the "launch day purchasers" category.

I do understand that people here make up a small segment of the total market, but it's interesting to see that even with all the whining about price, about 1/3 of people still plan on buying one on launch day. That number will likely increase as marketing, word of mouth, and early hands-on reviews start hitting the scene.

The off contract price is mostly a lie, be aware of this. For example, look at the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch 4th Gen. The only real differences between them are cell phone radio and cameras. A new 16gb iPod touch costs $299. A new 16gb iPhone costs $599, and I know the difference in parts doesn't cost $300. It is a little gimmick done by cell phone companies and manufacturers to "encourage" you into contracts.

Also, motorola knows their main competition with the wifi only device is the iPad 32gb which costs $599. My bet is that the Xoom wifi only will clock in at $549-599. I would be happily surprised by $499 or lower.
