When I call someone I hear one ring then nothing until the person picks up

Really weird and doesn't always happen but I will call someone I will hear one ring then nothing but it is still actually ringing. I will not hear anything until the person picks up or it goes to voice mail.

I am rooted and everything is stock on 5.1. My carrier is tmobile.


Any thoughts?

Do you have your caller ID blocked? If so, many people block those calls and the call gets sent to voicemail after what seems like one ring to the caller.

The "ring" you hear is generated by the called party's carrier's central office, it's called the ringback tone. If it's happening on calls to people on different carriers you're describing a situation that can't normally exist.

This started for me this weekend, but was limited to only one of my contacts. it was weird. Just as you describe, one ring then nothing until either voicemail connected or he answered. Also stock, 5.1, and T-Mobile.

Tried a restart and cleared the cache. I assume it was a network issue. Haven't tried calling him after the weekend.

Same thing for me as well. I'll call my girlfriend and it rings once, then nothing until she picks up. Doesn't happen all the time, maybe once out of three calls to her.

The person I was calling was on AT&T. When I tried to call another person on T-Mobile and some home numbers I didn't get the issue.

Doesn't happen to me, but I haven't called any AT&T folks. Most of the people I call are on MetroPCS and the occasional Verizon when I call my best friend. I'm on MetroPCS myself

So i confirmed it does this no matter who I call. I called a land line, my girlfirend in the UK and other carierrs. Doesn't happen all the time though
