They say there will be a software fix, but it's more like a battery issue. The software they will release will probably just be an improved battery monitor and not let the flash work unless you have 50% or more battery.
Don't know if the Gingerbread will do any good, but continuing to verify that it's related to total phone power draw while in non 3/4G coverage.
It continues to occur, and I've found a way to prevent it. The only way to prevent the phone from crashing while taking a picture while the phone is in high power draw looking for a Verizon Signal, is to put the phone in Airplane mode. This appears to verify and prove that the phone can't handle the high power draw for signal search and the power draw for the flash at the same time.
