No date has been announced. I haven't seen much speculation either. The consensus seems to be the same launch cycle as the Nexus.

Definitely not soon enough. I'm holding my wife off on a new phone until these come out and I can evaluate them. She is and I was until July an iPhone user. She wants something bigger now. I picked up the OP3 in July for myself to evaluate how tough it would be to move from iPhone to Android, and it wasn't. I'm just not sure she'd be as happy with the OP3. Between random reboots and it simply shutting off, well I can deal with that as infrequently as it occurs. She probably wouldn't.

According to an Australian company, Oct 4th is announcement with an on sale date of Oct 20th. Have no idea how their dates align with North American dates, but is consistent with rumors and last years date

Would be sweet if Sept 20 was the date. I think it's been ready but they were sticking with the usual date but given the blunders of Apple and Samsung, it makes sense to strike while the iron is hot .

Could also be the upcoming HTC desire though.

The announcement and availability of an affordable Android phablet within the next few weeks would nail the coffin shut on the Note 7. Decent specs,Google support, timely updates, minus carrier bloat are what I look forward to the most.

Most users don't need the bells and whistles (such as an iris scanner and s-pen) but some are nice to have. At this point the majority wants a dependable phone that takes great pictures and video, decent battery life, nice sturdy screen, etc.
