When JB update is finally released, should i wait a few days before downloading it?

Soak tests are created so that this sort of thing isn't necessary.. If you download it and it has bugs, then the testers have failed. Just download it, man!

I'm going to be patient & hold off on it a bit myself. My Maxx is running ICS absolutely perfectly and is customized just as I want right now. My only experience with JB is on the Nexus 7 and while nice, does not seem like a quantum leap. I'm just not particularly looking forward to setting up everything again for small gains especially, until I'm dead certain it's going to be stable across the platform.

I've never delayed updates. What I would suggest is a cache partition wipe after updating, which seemed to help significantly after the ICS update. If it isn't too much trouble, a factory data reset after the update would be ideal, but not really necessary.

Just curious on this and I've never seen it asked. Does Google Play retain the installation history of your apps? If so, it would make a reset less of a nuisance without having a backup.

It does, but it can't tell which ones you may have uninstalled after initially installing. In the Play Store, go to My Apps, then swipe over from Installed to All, and you'll see the list of every app you've installed (for all of your devices). You can manage this list and remove any that you don't think you'll ever reinstall.

Once i logged into my google account after the ICS upgrade my apps were automatically re installed on my Maxx.
The only thing i had to do was log back in to some of the apps that required it, so just make sure you remember your passwords.

Backup data specific to the app if saved locally. You shouldn't have to download anything for the record, unless you do a factory data rest after the upgrade IEEE actually any time you do a data reset.
