I wouldn't hold your breath. I've seen one person say by the end of the month but that is probably pushing it.

Security update should be soon, started rolling out for other HTC phones today. Maybe they will re-release gb with it?

I wonder if they're using Europe as the new Beta testers rather than everyone in the States? Maybe they figured they would be lynched if they continued with Beta testing their product here?

According to the HTC rep I spoke with yesterday, there is no ETA on any of the updates.

Pretty Awesome on behalf of HTC and VZW. Release broken software, and no eta on fixing it. Took the guys over at BAMF about a day (at least that is how it seemed) to fix the VM Notification problem, and those guys at big corporate can't.

Huge fail IMO.

Thankfully, I am rooted though, so doesn't matter much to me...

Yeay I don't care anymore either rooted here dont feel like waiting and planed on rooting anyways

I just got off the phone with HTC support and they say in was pulled to be retooled. Didn't give any time frame when it will be re-released. But I was told to start trying again in a week or so.

I have the OTA gingerbread that was released for like a day. I haven't rooted yet. Mostly because I am just lazy about it. But for all those thunderbolt users that are crying over gingerbread. The ONLY big differences were the notification settings tab and your favorites in the app drawer. Other than that. Doesn't run faster. Doesn't extend battery life. I barely even notice a difference between the two. So if you want to drool over the awesome capabilities of your thunderbolt (or android in general) just root.

I have noticed that battery life when on WiFi s much better. Battery life when off WiFi seems about the same.

I also have the "one day OTA".

There are several improvements in Gingerbread that I do appreciate. I can use Skype with the front-facing camera. I can do voice chats on Google Talk. I can video-chat on Google-talk (just not with the front-facing camera). I really, REALLY like the new battery charts and reports.

But, yeah, by and large the things I really wanted out of Gingerbread didn't really happen.

I had hoped it would improve battery life. It really hasn't. My extended battery still barely gets me through the average day. In fact, it seems a little worse, really.

I had hoped it would improve my data connection drops when switching between WiFi, 3G, 1X, and no coverage. It really hasn't. I still have to use "Airplane Mode" with the occasional restart and it actually seems like I have to do that more often lately.

So, yeah, I'm pretty happy with Gingerbread - I have no plans to try and force my phone back to Froyo. But if I had my choice, I'd root and go with a nice ROM. Unfortunately, mine is a corporate-owned, and I don't think Corporate would be very happy when MobileIron ratted me out.
