I can't find my downloaded songs

I'm pretty new to the SG, and I've downloaded several songs onto my phone. They appear in my "Play Music" icon (but not in my "Music" icon - ?), but when I connect my phone to my computer and try to use Windows Explorer to find them, it comes up empty on a phone search? Why can't I find the songs? And how can I add songs that are on my computer to my phone when I don't know where the music folder is through Windows Explorer?

Re: I can't find my downloaded songs

Did you download the songs from Google Play Music? Downloading music directly to your phone using the Play Music app is expressly for the app to use, not for other music apps. The music files are downloaded to an obscure app directory with a coded filename. If you want to download music from Google Play Music and have other music apps use them, you need to download the music using a computer browser, from your Play Music Library website. Then transfer those files to the phone's internal storage (or SD card, if the other music app has permission to access it) via USB connection.

I'm guessing this is the only way to get music from an old Google Play account to a new account? Or will that work?

Re: I can't find my downloaded songs

Probably. I'm not aware of any way to transfer an entire music library directly from one Google account to another. So you may have to download your entire library from the first account (which is probably most easily done using the Google Music Manager program), then log out of that account and log into your new account, and then upload the entire library to the new account, again using the Music Manager (but make sure you've signed out of the old account and into the new account in the Manager).
